I’ve been studying for an upcoming sermon and have been profoundly re-awakened to the beauty of God’s grace…
In our contemporary culture, the word “grace” is one of those words that has, in many ways, lost its meaning. Our culture thinks of grace as “overlooking” something. But grace never overlooks, it actually looks deep into the heart and identifies what is true and real (see Titus 2:11-12).
Grace is the pleasure of God to magnify the worth of God by giving sinners the right and [the] power to delight in God without obscuring the glory of God. –John Piper
Grace is not simply leniency when we have strayed. Grace is a force, a power that initially awakens us to God and the gospel. Yes, it’s true that grace pardons us, but grace is not just pardon, it is also power.
